This antique milliners flower press mould is made from cast iron and fitted with a turned wooden handle. Tools of this type were used in the hat-making and artificial flower trades to shape and form fabric petals and leaves, often with the aid of heat. The base is engraved "622 S", likely a pattern or model number used by the manufacturer. The substantial cast iron construction reflects its practical workshop use. It is in good original condition with visible signs of age and use including surface marks, tarnish, oxidation and wear consistent with regular use. The wooden handle remains present and secure.
