Before 2023, during archaeological research of an Old Bulgarian settlement from the 8th – 9th centuries in the Kavlaklar area, east of Pliska, a graceful gold ring weighing 3.77 g was discovered. The small plate of the ring has an elongated diamond shape, which passes through a plastically expressed transition to a faceted ring. A rune-like sign of three parallel fine hasti is incised on the plate, with a printed circle at both ends. The ring was made by casting, and the decoration is chiseled. The unpretentious workmanship suggests local production. It most likely belonged to a prominent representative of the Bulgarian family aristocracy from the 9th century.
