Some pieces of history deserve far more than being tucked away in an archive.
This remarkable original Sunday Pictorial newspaper, dated 29th April 1923, is one of those pieces.
Over one hundred years ago, someone bought this newspaper to read about the most extraordinary football match Britain had ever witnessed. Rather than being discarded, it was carefully preserved and passed through the decades until it eventually became part of my late grandmother's remarkable collection of historical ephemera.
Now it is ready to begin its next chapter.
This newspaper captures the legendary 1923 FA Cup Final between Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United—better known around the world as The White Horse Final.
It wasn't simply a football match.
It became one of the most iconic sporting events ever staged.
Thousands upon thousands of supporters overwhelmed the newly opened Wembley Stadium. The crowd poured onto the pitch, mounted police struggled to restore order, play was delayed, and one white police horse—Billy—became forever woven into football history.

Condition
A genuine original newspaper from April 1923.
It remains in good antique condition for its age, displaying expected signs of over a century of careful handling including age toning, creasing, edge wear and small tears/chips to some page edges. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description and condition.
It will be carefully placed in a protective sleeve before being securely sandwiched between rigid cardboard to ensure it reaches its new home safely.
