*The main women in Archie’s life, Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, returned to the spotlight in this 1987 series. Veronica, the brunette, is the more worldly of the two, having been born into the rich Lodge family. Betty, on the other hand, combines a cheerful personality with blonde good looks. The two have been friends since their introduction in Pep Comics, as well as rivals for Archie Andrews’ affections. Ironically, it was newcomer Cheryl Blossom who appeared to steal his heart in a well-publicized “Love Showdown” in the early 1990s.

This series follows Betty and Veronica’s comic escapades as they go through never-ending high school adventures in the town of Riverdale. It also includes a letters column which dispenses advice for their generally pre-teen, female readers’ personal problems.
