Not only because of the fact that George Harrison and Eric
Clapton were playing a 64 SG Standard, Gibson called the SG's this year's
outstanding. The chunky sideway vibrato had been replaced by the more reliable
Maestro Vibrola. The neck profile had increased in format and now resembled the
profile of the 59er Les Paul.
Here is an excellent reissue of this model from the Gibson Custom Shop with all
the outstanding construction methods that ensure the great quality of the
current models. The experienced luthiers from Gibson have accurately modeled
the old models down to the last detail. The wood quality is impressive and is
based on the really best originals. The aniline finish, the reworked aging of
the plastic parts and the perfect replica of a good PAF, the capacitors and the
circuitry make this reissue a dream for any fan!
