Our reproduction is based on a later 18th century model (c. 1780-1785) by August Grenser, Dresden, one of the most distinguished makers, reflecting the Dresden school at the threshold of the Classical era.
Grenser’s instruments reflect the transition from late Baroque craftsmanship to the emerging Classical style to suited late Baroque and Rococo (galant) repertoire, including works by JS Bach, Telemann, JJ Quantz, and CPE Bach, as well as to the early Classical repertoire of the late 18th century.
