I bought these from a forkhardt supplier that went out of business. The jaws show no sign of wear. The 4” chuck is missing its back plate and pinion gear but it does “work” if you move the scroll gear. The 6” chuck is marked “test chuck only”. Its jaws also show no wear. The 6” chuck works very well.

My best guess is these were a salesmans sample.
