Melanie — Melanie's Greatest Hits | LP | Buddah Records 2318 072 | Australian Phonogram Pressing c.1973 | Very Good+ Vinyl | Plays Fine | Brand New Key, Lay Down, Ruby Tuesday, Beautiful People

Melanie's Greatest Hits (Buddah Records 2318 072) is the definitive early-career compilation from Melanie Safka — the New York singer-songwriter who became one of the most distinctive voices of the early 1970s folk-rock era, and one of only a handful of solo artists to perform at Woodstock. The album collects her biggest hits across both sides: Side One opens with "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)", followed by "The Good Book", "Peace Will Come", "What Have They Done to My Song, Ma", and "Beautiful People"; Side Two features her classic cover of "Ruby Tuesday" (Jagger-Richards), the #1 US hit "Brand New Key", "Stop I Don't Want to Hear It Anymore", "The Nickel Song", "Close to It All", and "Ring the Living Bell".

This is an original Australian Phonogram pressing (distributed by Phonogram Pty. Limited) on the distinctive pink Buddah Records label with the smiling Buddha figure — a lovely period pressing of this well-loved compilation, with correct Australian matrix numbers MX168630 / MX168631. The vinyl is in Very Good+ condition — plays fine with no issues, quiet sides, and clean playback throughout.

Sleeve condition: Very Good — The striking purple cover with Melanie's full-length lace dress portrait is vivid and undamaged, with light age-appropriate wear to edges and corners only. Rear sleeve with full track listing and mini-album artwork panels is clean and fully legible.
