Overview

This plug-in thyristor-controlled electric pre-heater battery is designed to protect heat recovery units from freezing conditions. By preheating the incoming air, it helps maintain the air temperature within the ductwork to prevent the heat exchanger from freezing, supporting reliable and uninterrupted operation in cold weather.

Designed for straightforward integration with compatible heat recovery units, it provides dependable frost protection while supporting efficient system performance. Its durable construction and high-quality materials make it suitable for long-term professional ventilation installations.

Key Features

The unit is available in multiple duct connection sizes and heating capacities, allowing it to be matched to a range of ventilation system requirements. It is supplied with the required cables for simple connection to the heat recovery unit, helping to streamline installation.

Benefits

Preheating the intake air helps prevent the heat exchanger from freezing, allowing the heat recovery unit to continue operating efficiently during low outdoor temperatures. The integrated thyristor control regulates operation by switching the full load on and off to maintain the required temperature.

The switching unit contains no wearing mechanical components, helping to improve durability and long-term reliability. For additional protection, the unit incorporates overheat thermostats with automatic restart at +50°C for main protection and manual restart at +90°C for emergency protection.

Applications

Suitable for use with compatible heat recovery and air handling units, this electric pre-heater battery is intended for installations where frost protection is required to maintain reliable ventilation system performance during cold weather.

It connects directly to the controller of the air handling unit using the supplied power and signal cables, providing straightforward integration into compatible ventilation systems.

Technical Notes

The unit is constructed with a 20mm internal layer of non-flammable mineral wool to provide insulation. The casing and junction box are manufactured from galvanised steel, while the heating elements are made from stainless steel. Rubber seals provide airtight connections to round air ducts to help minimise heat loss.

Installation to round air ducts is completed using the supplied clamps. When mounted horizontally, the control box cover must face upwards, with a permissible deviation of up to 90°. The control box cover must never be positioned downwards.
