Hello and welcome,
Original First World War camp produced football programme from the Knockaloe Internment Camp, Isle of Man, dated 31 July 1917.
The design, while appearing hand-drawn, is in fact printed in purple ink using a likely improvised camp printing method, possibly from a hand-prepared plate or stencil, on lined paper.
This type of small-scale, resourceful production is characteristic of POW camp output and significantly rarer than standard printed programmes.
It records a match between Camp I and Camp III, including full team line-ups, match details, and period annotations with the final score (2:0).
A highly unusual and visually striking piece of WW1 POW football history.
Such material provides a fascinating insight into daily life, morale, and organised sport within WW1 internment camps. Football was a major activity among prisoners, and surviving printed programmes from these camps are scarce.
Condition: Original folded sheet with age-related wear, staining, and edge wear as shown. Structurally sound and fully legible.
A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic piece of WW1 POW and football history.
Provenance: From a long-held private collection, acquired from a Berlin-based collector who assembled the material over a number of years.
Thanks for looking.
***** VERY IMPORTANT INFO FOR OVERSEAS BUYERS *****
1. Worldwide shipping is via the Global Shipping Program (GSP) only, NO EXCEPTIONS!
2. If buying multiple items please add them all to your basket at the same time and checkout and GSP will calculate the combined shipping amount. This will increase with each item as import duty and tariffs are charged in advance on each item. We DO NOT receive ANY of this and we have no control over it. We cannot provide combined invoices or refunds (including partial) on postage for items going outside the UK as it’s all dealt with by the GSP.
3. Import VAT at 20% is payable in advance as part of the global shipping program fee, that is why it can seem very high. The flip side of this is there’s no nasty surprises.
4. If no shipping option is displayed for you then sadly that means GSP will not deliver this item to your country.
5. We will NOT send it overseas any other way.
