This Lot will be sold at auction at Flight of Elegance; Farnborough on Saturday 16th May.Engine rebuilt by specialists Northway PorscheGlass out repaint in 2022One of the best maintained G Series cars we have offeredSince its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continual development, although the basic concept has remained little changed. In 1973, the Carrera name was re-introduced from the 356 Carrera which had itself been named after Porsche's class victories in the Carrera Panamericana races in Mexico in the 1950s. The most notable advances in 1984 were the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine. Although it remained an air-cooled 'flat-six', the '3.2' was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974, the bald statistics being a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.First registered 20th November 1985, this stunning 3.2 Carrera is presented in a beautiful metallic blue with a light fleck, a classic colourway offering a nod to the modern era. Owned by our vendor for over 12 years, during his tenure significant sums have been lavished on the car regardless of values and cost in what could be referred to as a slow restoration. At the time, what felt more like maintenance has developed into a car that boasts amongst other things a full engine rebuild by Porsche specialists Northway including new chain tensioners in May 2023 shown in an invoice for £9,744 and a full glass out repaint by Riviera Autobody August 2022 which includes new front wings, kidney bowel, outer sills, A post lock panel and various other panels and parts replaced as necessary which cost in total £34,518. After this our vendor finally sent the car to Porsche specialists Autofarm in March 2025 for a final shakedown which included new rear shocks, replacing torsion bars, new bushes, Geometry set, powder coating front and rear anti roll bars with another £9,124 invoice, all of which complements the outstanding condition of the car which sits on black Fuchs wheels and wears it original blue leather trim with a lovely touch of patina. The more eagle eyed of you would have noticed the odometer reading is 218,940 miles from new, which this example wears with pride. The car has been maintained impeccably from new and given the rebuild and quality of renovations and maintenance, one would have forgiven the odometer being returned to zero but not doing this is testament to the ownership, build quality and robust nature of a G Series. The history file, no surprise is comprehensive with invoices and bills for servicing, maintenance and the aforenoted paint and engine rebuild providing ample confidence for any buyer. The car drives wonderfully, the manual gearbox providing an engaging drive with the fabulous 3.2 litre straight six engine. Consigned by Mathew Priddy
