This antique Songye figure stands 16" tall. With remnants of original pigmentation it has a great look. It has a strongly defined body and geometric face typical of the actual type of mask worn by this tribe from what is currently the Democratic Republic of Congo. The figure is holding a staff of power. It has a repair on one arm, around shoulder and at elbow, does not detract from presentation. This is a unique piece of primitive antique African art used by the actual tribe and not sold as a tourist trinket.
