The King Seiko is the flagship of the Seiko range along with the Grand Seiko and the certified chronometer is one notch above putting this watch at the absolute top of the Seiko range. It is feature packed and superbly constructed.

An important, very unique feature of this watch is the ability to calibrate the timing without opening the case! The pen ultimate photo shows a screw between the lugs at 6. This is actually a plug. Remove the plug and there is an adjusting screw with which the timing can be calibrated.

The hands, "SEIKO", "KS" motifs and the date window are superbly finished and mint. So are the hands. The dial presents beautifully despite some aging around the very edge.

The case is in great condition with only light patina. It has been lightly re-polished. 

The glass is hardlex crystal, was replaced as part of the overhaul.

The bracelet is new, quality Duraflex brand, will fit up to approximately 21 cm wrist.
  
The 5245A movement is very sophisticated.  It features the high beat, 28,800BPH beat rate and is a certified chronometer.  It also has one my favorite and rare feature of instantaneous date change at midnight. It has been professionally overhauled/serviced and performs faultlessly.

SPECIAL NOTE: There is a characteristic of this watch that needs explaining. When manually winding this watch, it engages the complete auto winding mechanism. This means that the crown is very hard to turn. Likewise, when adjusting the date, the auto wind mechanism is engaged and the crown is very hard to turn. 
This is not a fault but a characteristic of this movement and normal.

Overhaul/Service explained

I am often asked about what an overhaul entails. So I have started adding a photo of the movement, disassembled ready to go through the cleaning machine. All old dried up lubricants, crud and anything else that shouldn't be there is cleaned away. Then, the movement is reassembled, lubricated, adjustments made and regulated. Routinely, the back and the crown seals are replaced (where possible) as are the spring lugs. The case is lightly re-finished if necessary. 

Customer satisfaction is our priority. 

This classic has been overhauled/serviced and is guaranteed for 90 day from the day of purchase.

About vintage mechanical watches:

A vintage mechanical watch will not perform like a modern quartz (electronic) watch. Also, with age comes fragility and it may no longer be ideal as a daily wearer. It should be treated for what it is, something old, classical and special. Treat it as you would a vintage car - not ideal to use as a “daily driver”. Keep it in the condition at which you bought it and it will hold or, indeed, increase its value. Use it every day and it will go backwards.

In the mid 90’s I realised that the watches that once were common had become rare, and I began to appreciate their beauty both aesthetically and mechanically.
