Description
The 262 is a modified version of he 252 Crossing Gate with the addition of a "Railroad Crossing" cross-buck and red warning lights. This one is on TCA MINT condition. (Brand New : all original; unused and unblemished.
It comes with a super scarce very hard to find Window Box with insert. These boxes are almost impossible to find in this quality condition. It is a brick with all original super crisp flaps and no writing, price tags of tape. One corner has a small tear that is not complete and the cellophane window is 100% complete. It has a couple small pieces of tape on the inside and not visible. Overall an amazing box that is now 57 years old and one of the less dependable boxes made by Lionel. Per Alan Stewart's Volume VI Book on Accessories on page 91 he states "The window box has a yellow paperboard liner designed to secure the gate, but the box is relatively large, flimsy, and is not very durable." Obviously this one has outperformed his description.
Also included as the correct version Instruction sheet for this version of the 262. It is correctly numbered 262-11and dated 3/65. It is graded a TCA P-8 Like New- Complete and all original. Evidence of light use and aging.
Another thing unique about this offering is the 262 Gate is in TCA Mint condition. It shows absolutely no signs of use or aging. It also has the highly suspect red hash marks on the white crossing gate. A fact that led some to doubt it was truly Lionel production believing it may have been early MPC product. That is discounted on this version because it has original "Lionel Corp" markings on the underside of the base. A true MINT late Lionel offering. I have included a used 145C controller since it came with nothing other then the gate and no other parts when I purchased it.
I am a long time member of the TCA and LCCA and guarantee that my descriptions are 100% accurate or your money back. Shipping in the Continental U.S. is $20. If less I will refund the excess over $1. Thanks for checking out my other auctions.
