When to sow
Temperate zones: sow in early spring or wait until all frost danger has passed and the soil is warm. Generally, if starting seeds inside then begin a few weeks before the last expected frost date in your area. By sowing early there will be time for a decent crop to be produced before the first frost in winter.
Days until germination: 5-10 days at 10-30°C
Approx Seed to Harvest: 70 days (baby leaves around 40 days)
Subtropical zones: sow during March to October in frost-free areas.
Tropical zones: sow during late April to July.
What will I receive?
A packet of seeds with a generous number of 50 fresh seeds in the packet.
Sow just below the surface in a well-drained sterile potting medium. Keep moist but not
wet. Sterile seed mix encourages better germination. Sow direct in fertile, pre-watered
soil, 1-1.5cm deep in rows 40cm apart.
Thin out seedlings to 23cm apart. Keep plants well-watered until established.
Aftercare: When harvesting, take leaves from several plants rather than stripping one
plant bare.
Keep soil moist during hot spells to discourage plants running to seed.
