RARE LITHIOPHILITE - 5 cm - STEWART MINE, CALIFORNIA 30129

RARE LITHIOPHILITE - 5 cm - STEWART MINE, CALIFORNIA

Lithiophilite is an uncommon phosphate of lithium and manganese. We offer a good miniature example from the Stewart Mine in Southern California.

Large crystals of lithiophilite are found at this mine, but they are horribly fractured from millions of years of seismic activity. Because they are not beautiful and valuable like the tourmaline and beryl crystals found there, nobody bothers to reconstruct them. This specimen features one of the lithiophilite crystal fragments off matrix.
