My name is Irina Cristobal and I was born in Cuba. I live in Florida with my husband the artist José Tonito from whom I learned some of the techniques that I use in my art pieces. I am a graphic artist, very familiar with the production and design of worldwide posters and most of my life I had been surrounded by all kinds of friend artists. In those settings it was inevitable not to become one of them.
This artwork was manually manipulated with color inks and chemicals over a printed paper poster. The result is a unique work of art that may or may not be true to the purpose the original poster but always the product of my own creativity. The changes are physically applied to the print using color inks and various chemicals, therefore this copy is one of a kind.
Artistically I want the viewer to feel visually comfortable with the usual composition of well known graphics. I like the challenge of changing the original rhythm by introducing other elements like soap bubbles and tree leaves for example, that I love to apply in faces and create ambiguous expressions that would lead to  different interpretations.
