A very attractive small early 19th Century / Georgian amethyst set Brooch.
The 13 x 10 mm amethyst is mounted in a crenulated collet with securing pegs
and is surrounded by cannetile work spiral wire florets
Dating from around 1830s this connoisseur gem is set in this hand made mount with detailed craftsmanship.
Not to be compared with later 20th century cast items.
The main body of this brooch is 15ct gold
The hinge and catch are in 10ct gold
The pin is sterling silver along with the hinge rivet.
Parts all XRF tested and confirmed.
The small tube on the back of the brooch is for a stick pin attachment so it is likely the brooch was converted from the stick pin head to a more functional brooch.
Length 17.75 mm (0.7 inch)
Width 15 mm
Condition very good with no damage to gemstone
Please note the amethyst shows various reflections in the different photographs especially from the pin.
These are not flaws or damage on the stone.
