Our client's antique (late 19th century) gilt bronze jewelry box, 7 1/2 by 5 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches, is very finely cast with extraordinary detailed motifs including scrolls and rocaille, cartouche on front depicting shield bordered by laurel and surmounted by flaming torch, arrow quiver and eagle with spread wings, egg-and-dart bordering the lid and sides, and is raised on round toupe feet.  The lid features the finely painted profile of a lovely female in red dress and bonnet, under glass, signed Castel.

Good condition with rubbing and oxidation wear to the gilt surfaces, surface dirt, scuffs and light scratches.  Restoration/replacement to the tip of one foot.  Lining with padding may be original and is in good condition with some wear and tears.
