Inspired by Renaissance artists, BORGHESE was founded by Frank Niepold in the early 1900s and started production in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The durable cast plaster chalkware produced was know for its attention to detail and rich finishing process. A dozen or more processes of painting, rubbing, shellacking, and polishing were involved to obtain the subtle gleam and antique reproduction patina of each piece.
