This is a Korean Celedon Teacup, Lid and Strainer.  Featuring a traditional inlaid crane and clouds design known as “Cheong-ja”.  This item is a piece of Korean celedon pottery featuring a makers mark on the bottom.  Korean Celedon, known as Goryeo Cheong-ja, is celebrated for its distinctive  jade-green glaze and exquisite craftsmanship.  The surface often has a “crackle” effect in the glaze, which is decorative  feature rather than damage or flaw to the surface.  Though Celedon is often associated with China, the green-glazed ceramics from the Korean Peninsula are some of the most precious pieces on the market.
MATERIAL:  It is crafted from ceramic with a characteristic blue-green celedon glaze, often exhibiting a fine crackle-pattern.
DESIGN:  The piece is decorated using an inlay technique where designs are carved into the clay and filled with colored slip before firing.
