Frank Mirabal (Taos Pueblo) authentic Native American buckskin hand drum — traditional powwow style.

Mirabal was a respected drum maker whose work reflects a traditional family craft passed down through generations. Documentation included with this drum notes that his instruments have been exhibited in museums including the Smithsonian Institution and referenced in the book Hearts & Hands: Musical Instrument Makers of America.

This example is a large drum constructed with a natural hide head and traditional rawhide tension lacing. The drum retains its original handmade wooden beater with buckskin head.

The drum has a wonderful natural patina and character consistent with handmade hide drums.

These drums are valued both by collectors of Native American instruments and by musicians seeking authentic hand drums.

Provenance / Documentation

The drum includes the information sheet identifying the maker and describing his work as a Taos Pueblo drum maker. This documentation accompanies the drum.

I personally purchased this at the Pueblo directly from Frank Mirabal.
