Alpina B10 V8 #416

For sale is my Alpina B10 V8, in Alpina Blau II with a grey interior. Like all B10 V8 cars, it has Alpina's Switchtronic automatic transmission.

I have owned the car for 4 years and have covered 10k miles. I purchased it from the first owner who bought the car from Sytner in the City of London in 1999 and cherished it until selling to me in 2022. I have loved owning this car and it’s taken me up and down the UK, but it’s now time to try something different and pass the B10 on to someone else to enjoy.

The car has a remarkable service history, detailed further below. Since buying the car I have also had a significant amount of work carried out to ensure it is reliable for future piece of mind. Together with the stamped service books and wallet, I have a large folder of paperwork and invoices.

The car has a high specification including Alpina blue instrument dials, sunroof, rear electric blind, double glazing, rain sensing wipers, integrated car phone amongst other features.

There are 2 previous owners on the V5 (the original owner purchased the car though his company initially, before transferring to himself).

The car is certified ULEZ Compliant – I applied for the emissions certificate from Alpina in Germany, and then went through the process with TfL.

I have a copy of the original build sheet from Alpina showing the full specification, in a nice Alpina folder from the factory.

Recent maintenance:

- Significant recent expenditure in my ownership, including replacement timing chains, tensioners, guides, cam cover gaskets and rocker cover gaskets carried out by BMW and Alpina specialists BMR Performance in late 2023, at a cost of approximately £3,500.

- 4 new Michelin PS5 tyres were fitted in 2024.

- The car has had a new MAF sensor, replacement knock sensors, a new ABS sensor, ignition switch and steering wheel clock spring within my ownership.

- The front discs and pads were replaced after I bought the car, as well as the brake reaction arms (with suspension work having been done by the previous owner shortly before my purchase).

- The gearbox has been flushed and oil replaced by BMR Performance during my ownership.

-  At approximately 78k miles the car had a head gasket replacement. This is a known failure point for phase 1 B10 V8 cars, so it was reassuring to know this had been dealt with when I bought the car.

Condition:

The car is in good condition throughout (as can be seen from the photos) but is not concours – there are various stone chips and touch ups as you would expect from a 26 year old car. As with any modern classic there is a rolling “to do” list of improvements but overall I am confident this is one of the best maintained examples out there with most of the common E39 / B10 V8 issues having been addressed.

It is remarkably rust-free, and the arches in particular do not bear any signs of the usual E39 bubbling. I was told that the car was garaged for much of its life, which would explain how solid it is.
