Dual 1237 Turntable, Operates Manually, Auto Func Not Working, Sounds Very Good.

This turntable is set up and ready to play. The vertical tracking is set to 1.25g and anti skate set to 1.25.

Automatic start/stop switch does not work and is not connected to linkages below. It is stripped inside.

This turntable works manually per the instruction manual (manual not included but can be downloaded online).

After plugging into AC, unlock  the tonearm tube clip mechanism, move queing switch to up position, gently move tonearm headshell to LP edge, this turns on motor and spins platter, move queing switch to down position and play record.

After record ends and needle spins over and over near record label, raise queing lever and move tonearm back to home position. This turns off motor. Lock tonearm tube with clip  mechanism.

Alternately, when record is finished and queing lever is raised, you can move tonearm an inch or so inward and it will automatically go back home and shut off.

The cartridge/stylus is a Signet Hitec H-Eleven. The needle looks great under a microscope and plays wonderfully with no distortion.

The head shell is the Dual system. The cartridge is mounted to a separate plastic mount. This mount is inserted into the head shell and makes electrical contact in the back of the separate mount. To remove the separate cartridge mount, swing the metal head shell flat finger beam backwards. Then the mount can be pulled forward for removal. Reverse this to install separate mount by lining up rear wedges to the head shell and swing flat finger beam forward. Sometimes the separate mount has to be slightly adjusted when locked in to make solid electrical contact in back.

I used the hum reduction grounding wire but didn't notice any extra hum before. If the separate cartridge mount is not making good electrical contact to the head shell, there will be an audible hum, and one or both channels won't play, so if the separate mount is ever removed, use lots of care to make sure it's making good contact, or best not to disengage it if not necessary.

If unit is unplugged and tonearm is moved to start position activating switch linkage and then moved back to home position, then when unit is plugged in, it will start up right away and you must wait 15 seconds or so for cycle to complete and shut off. Then it can be used normally.

The dust cover has 2 cracks on the back side as seen in the photos.

This German Turntable sounds very good, great stereo separation and detail. I will take it back and provide full refund if not to your liking. The reason I'm selling this great sounding turntable is because I already have 4 other good sounding turntables to play my many vinyl albums on and I have to start pairing down.

Turntables that are set up and ready to play are delicate and may shift during shipping even if packed well. This is local pickup only in the Tucson area.
