Toys, particularly clear blister packs, turn yellow due to photodegradation caused by UV light exposure (sunlight/fluorescent lamps), which breaks down polymer chains. Other factors include heat, oxidation, and, in some plastics, a reaction between brominated fire retardants and light. This yellowing is often irreversible, though some collectors use hydrogen peroxide, UV light, and heat (Retr0bright) to reduce it.
