This is a Postmodern Armoire Cabinet, designed by Michael Graves in 1986 for his project in La Jolla, the Aventine Hotel. It was manufactured by Glenn of California from Cherry Wood. The piece is made with heavy MDF wood, having a cross-hatch motif on the front of the doors. There is ample space inside of the unit to place a television if so desired.
Michael Graves coordinated and controlled the entirety of the architectural build for his projects. He would design the building, the rugs, and the art. The design of this cabinet is intended to mimic the facade of the Aventine Hotel.
The armoire cabinet measures 27.75 inches deep, 49.25 inches wide, and 72.25 inches high. This piece does show wear from previous use. There are visible surface blemishes such as scratches and scuffs in areas. Overall, this piece is in good vintage condition. Please see photos.
