This is a Rare Antique Chinese Export Vermeil Bracelet that’s in excellent condition. Circa 1920, this piece was created in the style of the Etruscan Roman / Egyptian Scarab revival bracelets that were popular in Europe after the late 19th century British explorations. These styles were created to fill the demand in the European and Western markets. This bracelet is a combination of the Western and Eastern influences. The Egyptian scarab motifs are a traditional symbol of rebirth and protection. This bracelet weighs 13g and has natural, carved Lapis Lazuli cabochon stones engraved with stylized "Shou" characters symbolizing "longevity". Lapis is traditionally associated with royalty, the night sky and spiritual enlightenment. The cabochons alternate with gilded mini floral plaques. The built-in push clasp piece is stamped with a maker's mark and the characters for "pure silver" on back. Some of the metal has light tarnishing, but it's not very prominent. The pieces are 7/16" - 5/8” in height and this bracelet measures 7.25” around when closed. This is lovely, historic antique piece.
