You're bidding on a Mid-Century vintage pair of statues, possibly bookends - each is about 6" tall on 3 1/2" X 5" onyx bases - signed "A. Santini" and labeled on the bottom, "Sculptor A. Santini - Classic Figure - Made In Italy".  Amilcare Santini (1910-1975) was an Italian sculptor known for neoclassical style and subject matter, mainly in alabaster. In the 1950s, he began to factory produce faux alabaster casts of his works, which quickly became popular and remain collectible to this day.

These are nice examples - a mirror image pair of roaring lions with one paw atop a ball. White color with brown marbling, atop black marbled onyx bases. Other than perhaps needing a detail cleaning, they are in very good condition - no chips, cracks or dings.

Please reviw photos carefully to make your own determination of condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
