Vintage 1960s Northern Bath Tissue Prints – Lot of 6 Framed American Beauties!

Francis Hook (the Artist) series of American Beauties.

Frances Arnold Hook (1913- July 23, 1983) was an American artist best known for her pastels of children used as commercial illustrations for advertisements. Her series of promotional prints called American Beauties first appeared in Northern Tissue advertisements in the 1950s and were used on toilet tissue packaging.  The images were immensely popular, and were issued as a set of prints. By 1966, 30 million copies of the prints had been sold.

Beautiful children’s prints illustrated in soft pastels, they were promotional prints from Northern Paper Mills, later called Northern Tissue.

These prints first were produced in1958 and helped sky rocket sales for the company.

These specific prints have been under glass and framed since purchased and they are in excellent condition!

14” x 11” prints
14 3/4” x 11 3/4” frame

When purchased the prints came in a cardboard sleeve unframed, on the package it says "suitable for framing." My mother had them framed properly at the Boroco Store in downtown Elgin Illinois. The best in town at the time.

The Boroco Store was a home decor store located at 207 E. Chicago Street in downtown Elgin, Illinois.

(In the photos I've included a page from a magazine ad that gives decorating ideas on how to arrange the framed prints in a child's room. It is not included in this lot)
