Antique Restored 56.5" Scythe 

This scythe is in very nice restored condition with no damage or excessive corrosion, just enough wear to add to

the character of the piece, and the blade is sharp. It was good and solid to begin with but was showing its age

with dull wood and surface rust on the fastener, wrench, nuts & bolts, end web, and blade (AKA metal parts).

The rust was removed from the metal pieces to a certain degree. We didn't want to end up with the shiny

silver look, as one of the possible uses for this scythe is for decor, so the authentic, vintage appearance

was retained. The blade was then sharpened, and it is now very sharp. It was found that this procedure

should have been saved for last since gloves had to be used from that point on. The snath and nogs

were lightly sanded and stained, and the entire piece was coated in clear lacquer to help preserve

it in the state it's now in. The blade and related hardware are in very good overall condition and

are secure with no wobbling. Aside from a mark where the label once was, the snath is excellent

from one end to the other, with no damage and relatively light wear, and the nogs are both tight and

solid and have no chips or cracks. The blade will be removed for shipping and is quick and easy to reinstall.
