This is an Executive Desk, initially designed by Davis Allen and Gordon Bunshaft as part of SOM Design. This particular example dates to the year 1961. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. was and still is an important architectural firm globally. SOM produced thousands of their own furniture designs from the 1950s-1980s, and this is a classic example. The design features a refined composition with a rosewood case and work surface, paired with a stainless steel base.

This example came from Albright Knox Gallery by Gordon Bunshaft and Davis Allen from Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill architects. A digital copy of the original drawing from 1961 and digital copy of original photography from the building will accompany the desk in the sale.

The desk measures 34.25 inches deep, 72.25 inches wide, and 28.75 inches high. This piece shows wear consistent with age and previous use and remains in good overall vintage condition. Please see photos.

The buyer may pick up the furniture, have it shipped by our shipping partners (buyer will pay for full shipping cost, though will not have to arrange it), or discuss potential delivery within reason following the end of the auction. The listed shipping cost is an estimate, though we can likely stay below that number for most areas of the country. If you win the item, we can discuss shipping options, prices, etc. and we will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. We work with a shipper locally who takes great care in their work and has been complemented often on their packing and shipping quality.
