This is a wooden Eharo, or ceremonial mask, hand-made in Papua New Guinea and purchased there in 1990.

It is not a sacred mask, but an 'entertainment' mask, and the lecherous old man is a common theme with these. While it looks like a man with his tongue out, his tongue is actually a hand-carved crocodile.

Hand-painted. Colors are brown, dark brown, black, red and ecru.
The edges are bound by strips of what I think is some kind of reed.

It is 20" long, 11" wide and 3" high.

Very light in weight.
It has never been cleaned.

The price includes having it professionally packed for shipping.
