Original Imperial German commemorative medal lot (2 pieces), dated 1887 & 1888.
A great pairing for German Empire / Kaiser-era collectors—excellent display pieces with strong historical themes.
1) 1887 Kaiser Wilhelm I – 90th Birthday Commemorative Medal
Portrait of Wilhelm I with German/Prussian imperial-era inscription
Reverse dated 1887 referencing the 90th birthday commemoration
Condition: Heavily circulated with noticeable wear
Noted issue: Defaced/punched/counterstamped area (clearly visible in photos) + surface spotting/marks
This “as-found” damage lowers numismatic/collector grade, but can add curiosity as a period-used souvenir piece
2) 1888 “Dreikaiserjahr” (Year of Three Emperors) Medal / Pendant
Obverse shows three Kaiser profiles with the well-known legend “UNSER SCHMERZ UND STOLZ” (“Our Pain and Pride”)
Reverse reads “UNSERE DREI KAISER DES JAHRES 1888” within a wreath
Pendant loop intact (nice for display / fob-style presentation)
Condition: Attractive original patina with light-to-moderate wear; crisp detail remains
Original period surfaces, no harsh modern polishing
1887 piece: more wear + punch/defacement + darker marks/spots
1888 piece: better eye appeal, even patina, intact hanger
