This a beautiful coverlet. The matelasse fabric pattern on the reverse side was used as the pattern for the stitching of the quilting. Both sides of this are great to use as the top side. There is virtually no wear showing to my eye. The appearance is of a soft pattern crush velvet surface that is made by the patterned quilting. The photos are inadequate to show the quality of the finish.
