Official Super Bowl XXV Program - Early Edition - "AFC vs NFC"

Game Day: January 27, 1991 at Tampa Stadium, Tampa, FL

We know now that the game featured the Buffalo Bills vs. NY Giants.  But, at press time for this early edition of the program, the Conference Championship games had not yet been played.  So, the cover says "AFC versus NFC" and all four semi-final teams are covered in the program – Bills, Raiders, 49ers, Giants.

The Giants defeated the Bills by the score of 20–19, winning their sixth championship (counting NFL championships before there were Super Bowls). This was the first Super Bowl to feature two teams representing the same state, although the Giants actually play in Rutherford, NJ.  Giants running back Ottis Anderson, who carried the ball 21 times for 102 yards and one touchdown, was named Super Bowl MVP. He was the first awardee to receive the newly named "Pete Rozelle Trophy" (named for the former commissioner, Pete Rozelle).

The fold-out two-page cover features a collage-style painting by Merv Corning.  Just inside the cover is another two-page fold-out that is a “legend’ to the painting, identifying all the various objects depicted (see photos).  Because the cover folds out, it is narrower than the pages.  See right edge of cover in photo.

Super Bowl Programs, this one included, contain tons of interesting information about the teams playing in the game (in this case, the four semi-finalist teams), about the play-off games that got them there, a week-by-week analysis of the season in general, season records of every team, individual and team superlatives, individual records, Super Bowl records (team and individual), etc.  Nice pictures of all the previous Super Bowl Rings are in this program.

Another nice feature in this program is a six-page foldout in timeline format highlighting each of the first 24 Super Bowls.

Way too much info to fully list everything in the program.  See Table of Contents photo for specific contents of this program.   Note – this program has 260 pages, while earlier Super Bowl programs had only around 200 pages.

If you are a Superbowl Program collector, this is one you have to have to have a complete library.  Too many "haves"?

This program is in Mint/NM condition, having hardly been read. See photos.

The program will be shipped in a manilla envelope, pressed between two pieces of sturdy cardboard.  Carrier will be USPS Ground Advantage (note – a lower “Media Rate” may be applied by eBay).

Thanks for your interest and please take a few moments to check out my other listings.   More Superbowl Programs to come.
