ANCIENT EGYPTIAN APOTROPAIC BOX LATE PERIOD TO PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 640-30 B.C.

[ In Ancient Egypt, particularly during the Late Period through the Ptolemaic Period (640–30 BC), small bronze boxes called "apotropaic boxes" or "votive offering boxes" were used for votive offerings. These were protective containers for sacred items, featuring powerful symbols like: the frog (Heqet) for fertility/rebirth and the scorpion (Serket) for healing/protection, common in Egyptian beliefs. These containers typically held small mummified remains of the animals depicted on them. The combination of the frog and scorpion symbols is significant because of the presence of both motifs on a single apotropaic box. ]
