Product introduction

Alctron MA-123 Inline XLR Attenuator (-10 / -20 / -30 dB)

The Alctron MA-123 is a compact inline XLR attenuator designed to tame overly hot output levels from microphones and professional audio devices before they overload your preamps, interfaces, or mixers.

It's especially useful when interfacing line-level or high-output gear —such as outboard preamps, channel strips, DI boxes, wireless receivers, or stage outputs—with inputs that clip too easily. Three selectable attenuation settings (-10 dB, -20 dB, and -30 dB) let you reduce signal level without changing tone or impedance.

Unlike digital gain reduction or pads buried in menus, the MA-123 provides clean, passive attenuation at the source , helping preserve headroom and prevent distortion earlier in the signal chain.

Key Features

  • Three Selectable Pad Levels: -10 dB, -20 dB, or -30 dB attenuation for precise level control

  • Ideal for Hot Outputs: Perfect for padding signals from outboard gear, wireless systems, mixers, or high-output microphones

  • Passive, No Power Required: Transparent attenuation with no batteries or external power

  • XLR In / XLR Out: Drops inline anywhere in a balanced signal path

  • Rugged Metal Housing: Built for studio, stage, and broadcast use, constructed from sturdy anodized aluminum, ensuring premium durability.

  • Phantom Power Pass-Through: Safe for condenser microphones when needed

Common Uses

  • Padding the output of an external mic preamp feeding an audio interface

  • Reducing level from wireless receivers or stage boxes

  • Preventing clipping when sending line-level signals into mic inputs

  • Taming hot condenser or ribbon microphones on loud sources

  • Increasing usable gain range on sensitive preamps

The MA-123 is a simple, reliable solution for gain-staging problems when you need less level — not less quality .
