This is a Tulip Pedestal Ashtray, initially designed in 1956 by Eero Saarinen for Knoll. These particular pieces were produced in the USA in the 1960s. The design features a base formed of molded cast-iron which is powder-coated in a white satin finish. The trays are made of polished chromed-steel. The original Knoll bow-tie labels are present on the bottom of each base.

These ashtrays are becoming increasingly rare, and are a fabulous example of Saarinen's early design work (which gave way to the tulip series and beyond).

The listed price includes one ashtray, and we have two available for purchase.

Each ashtray measures 13 inches in diameter, and is 21.5 inches tall. There are some light scratches on the bases. The steel vessels are in good condition with no burn marks or damage. Overall, these ashtrays are in good condition with light wear. Please see photos.

The buyer may pick up the furniture, have it shipped by our shipping partners (buyer will pay for full shipping cost, though will not have to arrange it), or discuss potential delivery within reason following the end of the auction. The listed shipping cost is an estimate, though we can likely stay below that number for most areas of the country. If you win the item, we can discuss shipping options, prices, etc. and we will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. We work with a shipper locally who takes great care in their work and has been complemented often on their packing and shipping quality.
