Complete 1987 United Nations Flag Series, comprising 16 different 22¢ stamps issued September 18, 1987 by the United Nations Postal Administration, New York. This issue (Scott #486–501) represents the eighth installment in the UN’s long-running Flag Series, featuring designs based on member nations’ flags.

Countries represented: Argentina, Congo, Bahrain, Greece, Gabon, Zimbabwe, Comoros, Japan, Mongolia, Niger, Haiti, Vanuatu, Saint Lucia, Iraq, Democratic Yemen, and Afghanistan. Printed by the Swiss firm Courvoisier S.A., these stamps were issued in panes of 16, four blocks of four flags each, with crisp typography and a light gray background.
