Official NFL Super Bowl XXII (22) Program - Game Day: January 31, 1988

 

Washington Redskins vs. Denver Broncos at Jack Murphy Stadium, San Diego, CA

 

Coaches: Joe Gibbs vs. Dan Reeves

Quarterbacks: Doug Williams vs. John Elway

 

Redskins won this one 42-10.  Doug Williams was named MVP completing 18 of 29 passes for a Super Bowl record 340 yards and four touchdowns, with one interception. He also became the first player in Super Bowl history to pass for four touchdowns in a single quarter, and four in a half. Williams was the first African American starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl.

 

Super Bowl Programs, this one included, contain tons of interesting information about the teams playing in the game, about the play-off games that brought them there, a week-by-week analysis of the season in general, season records of every team, individual and team superlatives, individual records, etc.  

 

Also included are complete rosters of the competing teams with photos and brief bios, team comparisons by position, Super Bowl records (team and individual).  

 

And - lots of great period ads too – Cars, beer, alcohol, cigarettes, men’s grooming products, and more.

This vintage program is Near Mint condition, just some normal age wear and what appears to be two minor white print defects on the binding (see photo) The book has barely been read, so the binding is crisp and the whole book lays perfectly flat.  Overall, pages are very clean, with no marks or writing.

 

The program will be shipped in a manilla envelope, pressed between two pieces of sturdy cardboard.  Carrier will be USPS Ground Advantage.
