This Chinese brass  container is very unusual. It is likely from the Ming dynasty, but I cannot be certain, and it could be older.  It features embossed Taotie mask and scrolling foliage motifs. The lid comes off and it has a felt base. The shape is truly unusual. It came from a Manhattan collection.  Measures 7.5 tall x 7.25 wide x 7.5 deep (inches).
