About the artist-

As the daughter of a geologist and an artist, early outings with Heather's parents provided classrooms in nature that inspired a love of both fields, and introduced a methodology of detailed attention to subjects that have shaped her art and life. She was a Botany major at the University of Oklahoma in the early 70's. In 1976, Heather started painting and participating in art fairs with her mother, Joyce Haynes. She continues to refine the technique developed by her mother. Heather carefully selects the rock and mineral specimens used in her paintings. The color, shape, and texture of the slabbed stones provide natural background for Heather's realistic wildlife paintings. Jade, petrified wood, quartz and howlite are some of her favorite "canvases". Her lifelong attention to detail and love of nature reveal themselves in each painting. Extensive travel and photography have contributed to the authenticity of her wildlife subjects and their habitat. Heather's work is collected by art, wildlife, and gemstone enthusiasts around the world.
