Orfeo Tamburi Serigrafie BOOK Bugatti Italy 1976 Screen Printing Art Reference

European Art Books from Saturday's Toys presents...  a rare publication from Bugatti Editore Ancona (Italy) on the work of Italian artist and scenic designer Orfeo Tamburi (1910 - 1994).

Born in Italy, Tamburi was greatly influenced by the work of Paul Cézanne (1839 - 1906).  The prints selected for this book were created by Tamburi primarily in the mid-1970's.

The 72 page book measures approx. 9.25" wide x 8.5" high.  The book is nearly impossible to find as it was written and published in Italy (by Bugatti Editore Ancona) and was neither distributed nor published elsewhere.

References a brief  essay by film critic Nino Frank, discussing the artistic use of screen printing (serigrafia) by the artist Orfeo Tamburi. Frank reflects on the history of screen printing, contrasting traditional techniques with modern artistic applications, and praises Tamburi's innovative use of color and design in the medium.

In addition to his contemporary art, Tamburi also acted in the 1952 film by Roberto Rossellini (husband of Ingrid Bergman) in his directorial effort on Envy within the Italian feature film of The Seven Deadly Sins.

The books still includes its original dust jacket, though it is seen significant wear since it was published in Italy (1976). The rear flap of the dust jacket reveals that it may have been impacted by moisture at some point, effectively causing the wrinkling to the book's endpapers (as shown), though there is no odor as sometimes associated.

Saturday’s Toys and Collectibles was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and media historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 16,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe.

Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers): "Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
