Antique British Coalport Porcelain Sucrier and Cover / Sugar Box with Lid, Hand-painted in Japanese Imari style.

Made in England, attributed to Anstice, Horton & Rose (Thomas Rose) Coalport, ca. 1805-1810, unmarked.

The pattern is # 377 as marked so on verso. Painted profusely with cobalt, reddish-orange, green, pink and yellow enamels in Imari palette and enhanced with gold throughout the pattern. Displays large orange red flowers with stylized cobalt blue leaves on the main sides and the lid, framed with similar flowers and gilded leaves and branches all over. Accented with bright pink daisies with yellow centers and green leaves under the handles. A garland of gilt leaves weaves around the upper shoulder. The pattern is very much reminiscent of the thumb and finger English porcelain designs from the 1775-1825 time period. 

This sugar box and the lid are in good condition overall, with a small repair at the rim of the bowl. There is a hairline going from the repair down and another one that is visible as a brown line. A fine crazing is present that is characteristic for antique English porcelain. The multicolor enamel painting is vibrant and in excellent condition. The gold painting and accents are in excellent condition as well, the gold trim at the rim and handles shows some wear.

The approximate measurements: 6.5 inches long x 4.5 inches tall. 

It was purchased in late 1960s - early 1970s at the Jack Patla's - well known fine antique shop in Charleston, South Carolina. The merchandise tag from that purchase is still present. It was stored over the years inside the box for decades.
