This is the original walkman type design that made personal stereos famous when they were first introduced in the early 1980's. 

This model comes with an extra long 10ft cord so you have plenty of flexibility in where you place your source unit. They also work great with TV's that have a 3.5mm (1/8 inch) output jack without having to buy an extension cord. 

They are still a favorite as they are small and lightweight and you don't have stick anything in your ears. They're especially great for younger kids. The sound is decent but the volume is not overwhelming helping to protect from hearing loss.
