A very finely modeled French porcelain figurine dating to the late 19th century produced by modeler Charles Baury who worked in Paris for the firm Jean Gille (founded in 1837) until Baury took over the manufactory in 1868, renaming it Vion & Baury. The firm's most famous works were elaborate bisque porcelain figurines. The firm achieved international acclaim and won gold medals at the Paris World's Fairs in 1878 and 1883. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. It has vibrant colors of blue, gold and white. It stands 9.5 inches high and has the green anchor mark on the bottom. There is also some illegible yellow lettering.
