This is an excellent example of early washing technology. This wood barrel hand washing tub comes as it was made with exterior hardware intact, as well as interior paddle/agitator. There is a lever mechanism and a wooden bracket for a wringer mechanism, but that mechanism

Is not on the machine. The base and tub are sturdy and there appears to be no rot. The banding around the bottom is secure but the top banding is loose. The lid needs reattached but the hardware is present. This piece was used for years as a display for silk flowers in floral shop and has been out of weather and stored inside for at least 50 years. It is heavy and therefore only available for local pick up in central Indiana.
