This is a used and no longer available new clutch (transmission) damper assembly from a Honda HT3813 / HT4213 riding mower / tractor. I have multiple, one is from a HT3810.
It is tested and functions correctly, meaning:
1. It damps in one direction.
2. It does not damp in the other.
To best describe this, examine the following question and response:
Question: Hello. I have an ht3813 tractor. I need the damper as mine pushes in but doesn't come back out, therefore it applies no pressure to the clutch plate (NOT CORRECT). I just want to verify I will be receiving a working damper that will provide force on the clutch plate to drive the unit.
Answer: Hi, thanks for emailing. Unfortunately you do not have a good handle on how this system is supposed to work. It honestly sounds like your damper is functioning correctly. It isn't supposed to apply any pressure to the clutch plate. It simply makes it so you can't pop wheelies when releasing the clutch. So when you press the pedal, it collapses and instantly disengages the clutch. When you let off the pedal, then the spring, etc in the clutch works against the damping of the damper in the opposite direction when re-engaging. These rarely fail, so I really don't think you need to buy one from me. If your clutch is slipping you most likely have a bad or broken spring or a bad clutch disc.
If you disagree with how these are supposed to work, and think they are to damp in both directions of travel, move on and do not buy from me.
If your damper works in this way as I describe, it is working correctly, and you don't need to buy this unless you want a spare.
WHY you may ask, does it work this way?
It is so you can crisply disengage the drive line when you press the clutch pedal, but slowly release without chatter when you let off the clutch pedal.
Honda evidently had no faith people wouldn't just pop the clutch and do wheelies all the time.
parts manual lists it as:
DAMPER ASSY. (NOT AVAILABLE)
24117-750-013 / 24117-750-A01
The HT3810 uses the later HT3813 damper but lists this alternate part number:
DAMPER ASSY.
24117-750-003 / 24117-750-A01
You only receive the damper, but I have other related parts in other listings.
Last retail was about $279.
If you have a preference for the first one or second one pictured, let me know at checkout. Second one is from the HT3810.
