The comic book series Bloodfire, published by Lightning Comics in the 1990s, follows Brian Reace, a wounded Marine who receives an experimental blood transfusion to save his life. The formula gives him superpowers but also the side effect of flammable blood, and he is unknowingly infected with the HIV virus by the scientist behind the experiment. Recruited by the President as the super-powered secret agent Bloodfire, he battles villains while dealing with the secret of his infection.
