PHOTO DESCRIPTION: A joint United States-Canadian expedition cruised through Arctic waters this summer in search of navigational and weather data.

Members of a Smith Sound or Polar Eskimo family. These Eskimos hunt far to the North when the ice is good, and live apart from South Greenland. It was these Eskimos who were friends of Peary and Rasmussen.
